Study in Moldova for international students requirements
How can I get admission in Moldova?
Admission of foreigners to educational institutions in Moldova is carried out in accordance with the Education Code and the normative acts regulating the procedure for admission and organization of the educational process at all levels of education.
The admission of foreigners to educational institutions in Moldova may be done with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, with the exception of foreigners from signatory states of the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications Concerning Higher Education in the European Region.
The enrollment of international students could be done:
• based on students exchange programs specified in the interstate agreements and International Conventions;
• based on specific agreements between local universities and other foreign Universities, which provide students exchange programs,
• based on students’ individual contracts.
To be admitted at studies at a university in Moldova, usually the following documents are required:
• The application form according to the model approved by the higher education institution.
• The copy of the national passport with a validity period of at least one year.
• The copies of the certificates of completion of training courses for foreigners (if applicable).
• The copy and legalized translation of the baccalaureate diploma or its equivalent – for enrolment in the first cycle (bachelor’s degree) or integrated higher studies.
• The copy and legalized translation of the bachelor’s degree and the supplement to the degree or the equivalents of these documents – for enrolment in the second cycle (master’s studies).
• The copy and legalized translation of the bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and diploma supplements or their equivalents – for enrolment in the third cycle (doctorate).
• The criminal record (police clearance certificate) from the home country of origin.
• Self-declaration of the applicant regarding the veracity of the presented data and documents.
• A copy of the health insurance (international standard) valid for at least one year.
• Training course completion certificate, which attests the level of the language proficiency in which they will study.
• A recent bank statement with funds confirmation, which prove the existence of at least 3200 EURO.

Note: If copies of the above-mentioned documents are presented, they must be notarized and, depending on the country where they were issued, apostilled.

How much does it cost to study in Moldova?
Of course, the cost of studying in Moldova depends on the university and the chosen faculty, but compared to most countries in the region, the price is quite low and can vary between 1,400 and 7,000 euros per year.
How to get a Moldova student visa?
As a rule, to apply for a Moldovan student visa you must be enrolled in a Moldovan educational institution and provide evidence of sufficient funds to cover living expenses and tuition fees for the duration of your studies.
What type of visa is required for foreign students in Moldova?
Foreign citizens who are going to enter Moldova to study in pre-university, university or postgraduate educational institutions require a long-stay visa (Type D/AS).
A long-stay visa is issued for a period not exceeding 12 months, for one or more stays whose duration will not exceed 90 calendar days within any 180 calendar day period. A long-stay visa can be with a single or multiple entries and exits.
Obtaining visas based on invitation letter

How long does it take to get a study visa for Moldova?
Diplomatic missions shall decide on the visa application within 10 calendar days from the date of submission of the application.
This period may be extended to a maximum of 20 calendar days in individual cases, namely when a more in-depth examination of the application is necessary or when consultation with the central authorities is required. The visa applicant shall be informed by the diplomatic mission of the extension of the visa application examination period.
Can I work and study in Moldova?
Foreign students can work in Moldova, due to the fact that the legislation regarding the regime of foreigners provides that, foreign citizens with the right of temporary residence for studies may carry out work activities on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, in accordance with labor legislation, respecting the normal duration of working time provided for by national legislation, but not more than 1564 hours per year cumulatively.
In the Republic of Moldova, the normal duration of working time of employees cannot exceed 40 hours per week.
