What is transit visa B in Moldova?

A visa is an authorization that allows its holder the right to enter or transit the territory of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the right to be on this territory for a determined period, respecting the purpose for which it was granted.
The transit visa (type B), in its turn, is an authorization that allows entry into the territory of the Republic of Moldova, for the purpose of transit.
The transit visa is issued at the request of the foreigner who is going to transit the territory of the Republic of Moldova in order to travel to a third country for the period of validity of the visa of the destination country and, depending on the case, for a period that will not exceed the term of one year, with the right to be on the territory of the country no more than 5 days for a transit. The transit visa can be single or multiple entries and exits.

The documents required for obtaining a Moldova transit visa

To obtain transit visa in Moldova the following documents are required:
1. Passport (issued within the last ten years) whose validity exceeds by at least 3 months the expected date for leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova;
2. A color photo, 35mm x 45mm;
3. The authorization (visa) to enter the territory of a third country and, if applicable, a bordering state of the Republic of Moldova, which allows foreigners to continue their journey, except for foreigners moving to a third country for which they do not need a visa ;
4. The travel ticket valid to the destination or the driver’s license, the insurance and the registration documents of the vehicle;
5. Consular fee – 40 euros.

How long does it take to get a Moldova transit visa?

The transit visa for Moldova is issued within 10 calendar days, and in individual cases, the term for examination of the request can be extended up to 20 calendar days at most.
Important note:
It is important to note that the mere possession of a visa does not automatically confer the right to enter the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The representatives of the border police request, for each foreigner, to prove the fulfillment of the conditions of entry and stay in the Republic of Moldova. If the fulfillment of these conditions is not proven, the foreigner may be refused entry to the Republic of Moldova, even if he holds a valid visa.
